GENERAL INFORMATION

Come to today's Back to School Pep Rally in the gym during lunch! We will have performances by pep squad, our marching band, choreo, and varsity dance, plus an exciting competition involving some of our fabulous teachers! Come decked out in your favorite zoo gear or black and gold. Don't miss the first rally of the year!

Got textbooks? If not, we want you. Please check out your textbooks the end of the day, in the Library. We are open all day from 7:35am - 3:45 pm.

California Scholarship Federation (CSFbegins fall collection on September 3rd. Applications are accepted (available in the Hawthorne Office and H66) during lunch only in H66. The collection period ends on September 18th at 12:45 p.m. Students may check the eligibility for this prestigious organization on lists posted outside the Hawthorne Office and H66. Membership is $20 per semester. Seniors, that in order to achieve Sealbearer status, you must have at least one semester of membership during your senior year. Seniors! Herff Jones, our graduation product company, will be here next Friday, Sept 5th during lunch and Saturday, Sept 6th from 9:30-11 am in front of the gym. They will be collecting your cap, gown, tassel and medallion orders. Order forms are available in The Activities Office or The Activities Website- https://sites.google.com/site/pvphsactivities/ There is no reason to wait to make this purchase!!! After Sept 6th, the price for your order goes up to $33 (plus shipping/tax).

Harbor College is again offering two very popular classes after school this semester on the Peninsula High Campus. Dr. Coleman'sFilm Appreciation class Meets Monday and Wednesdays and Mr. Wheeler's Sociology class meets Tuesday and Thursdays. Both classes are from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, and start the week of September 8th. Registration forms are in the CCC, Counseling Office, H15 and H64.

COLLEGE CAREER CENTER

Seniors, Juniors and Parents: Mark your calendars for College Night on Monday Sept. 15th. Details and program coming soon in a Naviance email. Be sure you are registered with a current email address!

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

Scholarships: Seniors, one of the first local scholarships is coming due on September 15 - the California Water Service Company is sponsoring a scholarship worth up to $10,000. Please go to Naviance for more information - Log onto Naviance, click on the Colleges Tab and select Scholarship List to view all the active scholarships.

Fly in Programs:Seniors, there are over 20 schools listed on Naviance that are willing to fly in students to visit their campus and host them for an overnight stay - Johns Hopkins, Carlton College, Lehigh University, Tufts and Colgate are just a few examples. Please go to the scholarship list on Naviance and select Fly-In Programs from the dropdown window to view all current Fly in programs.

ATHLETICS

Attention ALL PEIS students. There is a MANDATORY meeting Wednesday, September 3, at lunch in the gym. You may bring your lunch

There will be a tryout for Boys' Basketball Thursday, September 4, from 5 - 6 pm in the Main Gym. You must have a current Proof of Physical to tryout.

Girls' Basketball tryouts will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd at 4:00 PM in the Kelly Johnson Field House. You must bring a current Proof of Physical in order to participate.
