Seniors, schedule your senior portrait session with PSS Imaging (714 630-7785) soon so that you will be included in the 2015 yearbook . Don't wait as appointments will run out!

Academic Decathlon will hold a follow-up meeting today in room P105 for all those students who indicated their interest in adding Aca Dec to their Fall schedule. If you are interested but unable to attend today's meeting, please stop by P105 after school today or at lunch on Friday. Sorry, no pizza this time, but there will be COOKIES!

The NHS information meeting will be this Friday, September 5 in the PAC during lunch. Juniors and Seniors who are elgible to apply should plan to attend. Applications will be passed out at that time.

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) fall collection has begun. Applications are accepted (available in the Hawthorne Office and H66) during lunch only in H66. The collection period ends on September 18th at 12:45 p.m. Students may check the eligibility for this prestigious organization on lists posted outside the Hawthorne Office and H66. Membership is $20 per semester. Seniors, that in order to achieve Sealbearer status, you must have at least one semester of membership during your senior year. Seniors! Herff Jones, our graduation product company, will be here Friday, Sept 5th during lunch and Saturday, Sept 6th from 9:30-11 am in front of the gym. They will be collecting your cap, gown, tassel and medallion orders. Order forms are available in The Activities Office or The Activities Website- There is no reason to wait to make this purchase!!! After Sept 6th, the price for your order goes up to $33 (plus shipping/tax).

Attention all Work Experience and Internship students: Please mark your calendars for the MANDATORY meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the CCC at lunch.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Want to help make your college application stand out? Work Experience or an Internship on your resume is a great ways to set yourself apart from the pack. Or if you're already have a job or internship set up why not earn elective credit on your transcript. If you need help finding an internship or job see Mrs. Gerber in the Counseling Office or plan to attend the lunchtime meeting in the CCC Thursday, September 11, 2014. Internship fields and companies available are Engineering, Medical, Veterinary, Honda, Boeing, legal, politics, and much more.

Seniors please mark your calendars for your "Senior Conferences" on September 8th periods 3, 4, 5 and Sept 10th periods 1, 2 through your English class.

Are you interested in making extra money? Would you be interested in helping other students? Then tutoring may be the best job for you!! See Mrs. Juge in the Counseling Office to sign up to be a STUDENT TUTOR!!

RACC Mini College Fair - Friday, Sept. 5th from 1:00-3:15pm in the PVPHS Amphitheater. To view the list of 30 schools who will be here to speak with students click on "weekly news" in the top menu of the CCC portion of our school website. CCC news updates will be posted here weekly.

Seniors & Juniors - Senior Parent Info & College Night is Monday, Sept. 15th from 6-8:45pm. Guest speakers will disucuss the following topics: UC, CSU, Paying for College, The Application Essay, Community College/Transfer to 4 Year College Option, Applying to an Arts College, 4 Year Private & Public (Beyond the UC/CSU). More details and your program will be emailed very soon via Naviance. Please be sure to have a current Naviance email username registered.


Scholarships: Seniors, one of the first local scholarships is coming due on September 15 - the California Water Service Company is sponsoring a scholarship worth up to $10,000. Please go to Naviance for more information - Log onto Naviance, click on the Colleges Tab and select Scholarship List to view all the active scholarships.

Fly in Programs:Seniors, there are over 20 schools listed on Naviance that are willing to fly in students to visit their campus and host them for an overnight stay - Johns Hopkins, Carlton College, Lehigh University, Tufts and Colgate are just a few examples. Please go to the scholarship list on Naviance and select Fly-In Programs from the dropdown window to view all current Fly in programs.

There will be a tryout for Boys' Basketball Thursday, September 4, from 5 - 6 pm in the Main Gym. You must have a current Proof of Physical to tryout.

Boys' soccer tryouts will be this Friday, September 5 at 3pm at the Pit.
