As Peninsula students may have seen or heard already, yellow ribbon week is this week. In preparation for Yellow Ribbon week, the ASB students decorated the school with yellow ribbons. Last year, this special week was promoted to stop bullying online. Students attended an assembly where Richard Guerry talked about the importance of internet safety.

This year, the theme for yellow ribbon week is: building the strength of teenagers by nurturing their internal resilience. Students can attend or participate in different activities, created by the PLUS students during the week.

On Wednesday, November 14 Peninsula will hold an assembly with guest speaker Dr. Ken Ginsberg, who is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He will be talking about the importance of resiliency and address the issue of student stress as well as what it means to have a “successful failure” at the assembly. Parents can also attend his evening presentation on Wednesday at 6:30pm in the gym.

In addition, the PLUS students will be hosting a “No Stress Rally” at lunch in the amphitheater on Friday November 16th. Students can listen to music and participate in fun “interactive” dancing.

Also make sure to show your spirit and wear yellow on Friday!
